Pilea hitchcockii is a striking small houseplant native to Colombia and Ecuador, renowned for its dramatic dark foliage. This compact species typically reaches heights of 15cm and spreads to form bushy clumps around 15cm wide. The plant features attractive pointed leaves in captivating shades of deep grey and chocolate-maroon with hints of silver, creating remarkable depth and contrast. Culturally, this pilea thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate light shade. It requires consistently moist but well-draining compost, watering when the top 2-4cm of soil has dried.
