Description
Hoya latifolia ‘Pot of Gold’
Hoya latifolia ‘Pot of Gold’ is a stunning variegated climbing houseplant native to Southeast Asia. This spectacular cultivar typically reaches heights of 1-2 metres when provided with adequate support, making it perfect for training up moss poles or trellises. The plant’s most striking feature is its large, waxy, oval leaves adorned with dramatic golden-yellow striations that create beautiful streaked patterns across the foliage. The variegation intensity can vary with light conditions, creating an ever-changing display of colour.
Culturally, this hoya thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant variegation, though it can tolerate some direct morning sun. It prefers well-draining, chunky potting mix and temperatures between 18-26°C. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, allowing excess water to drain completely. Maintain humidity levels of 50-60% for optimal growth. Feed monthly during growing season with diluted houseplant fertiliser. With proper care, mature plants produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers. Support climbing growth with moss poles or stakes.
