Aloe aristata
Aloe aristata, commonly known as Lace Aloe or Guinea Fowl Aloe, is a charming succulent native to South Africa. This compact plant forms dense rosettes of fleshy, triangular leaves, typically growing to a height of 15-20 cm and spreading to about 30 cm wide. The dark green leaves are adorned with distinctive white spots and soft white teeth along the margins, giving the plant a delicate, lace-like appearance.
In late spring to early summer, Aloe aristata produces tall flower spikes that can reach up to 50 cm in height. These spikes bear tubular, orange-red flowers that are highly attractive to pollinators. The contrast between the vibrant blooms and the intricate foliage creates a striking display.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade, this hardy succulent is drought-tolerant and can withstand light frosts, making it suitable for both indoor and very sheltered outdoor city locations. Aloe aristata is an excellent choice for rock gardens, succulent displays, and as a low-maintenance houseplant, offering year-round interest with its attractive foliage and seasonal blooms.
