Staphylea colchica, commonly known as the Caucasian bladdernut, is a charming and rarely seen deciduous shrub or small tree native to the Caucasus region. In late spring, it produces pendulous clusters of fragrant, creamy-white bell-shaped flowers, which hang delicately among the fresh green foliage and are beloved by pollinators. As summer progresses, the flowers give way to distinctive, inflated, papery seed pods that add ornamental interest well into autumn. Reaching 3–5m when mature, it forms a rounded, bushy habit and thrives in sun or partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil. Hardy and low maintenance, it brings elegance and seasonal charm.
