Description
(H 72) A nice bushy hybrid. The green pitchers are narrow and elegant, heavily veined with dark red.The hood is semi-upright and unfrilled whilst the lip is deep red.The flowers are borne in spring before the pitchers rise, striking and particularly beautiful, the whole of the flower is a stunning deep red with long petals which droop pleasingly. The petals will fall but the main structure of the flower will last for several months. All Sarracenia flowers are blessed with amazing longevity. Like all Sarracenias they need to be stood in a couple of inches of soft water, rain water is ideal, they also need acidic nutrient-less soil for good growth, we use a mix of peat and perlite. They are efficient fly and wasp catchers and make excellent container plants. Between the end of october and mid February all Sarracenia will need a period of dormancy, keep cold and just damp but with as much light as possible. Excellent plants for fly catching on a sunny window sill. Plants may be sent bare rooted.
