Description
This plant really is a bit special and is one of our personal favourites. The pitchers are green and covered in fine purple veins throughout. The lovely, spout shaped lip is such a deep purple that it is almost black! The hood on this plant is particularly striking. Large, wide, heavily veined over the top, with solid deep purple underneath. It looks spectacular in the sunshine! This stunning plant will quickly form clumps of lovely, sturdy pitchers. A must for any collection. Like all Sarracenias they need to stand in 2.5cm (1″) of soft (rain) water in acidic nutrient-less soil in full sun for good growth. Efficient fly wasp catchers they grow in full sun in moist or wet acidic nutrient-less soils. Keep well hydrated spring to autumn but keep just damp in winter. Needs a cold winter dormancy for long term plant health. Good flycatchers for a sunny window sill. Plants may be sent bare rooted.
