Description
Persicaria virginiana
Persicaria virginiana, commonly known as jumpseed, is a versatile perennial valued for both its foliage and delicate flowers. Native to North America, it forms a clump of broad, oval green leaves, often marked with chevron-like dark blotches for added interest. From late summer into autumn, tall, wiry stems rise above the foliage, carrying slender spikes lined with tiny red to pink flowers that dance gracefully in the breeze. Growing to around 90-120cm, it thrives in sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Easy to grow and naturalistic in style, it brings subtle colour, movement, and texture to borders.
