Pelargonium trifidum

Pelargonium trifidum is a species pelargonium introduced to Kew in 1790 by Masson. This highly floriferous plant produces profuse cream flowers with particularly long petals, adorned with deep crimson markings on the upper petals from April to October. The plant features slender, straggly and brittle stems clothed in small, pale green, deeply cut leaves with a delightful spicy fragrance.

Culturally, this pelargonium develops a wonderful trailing habit, making it ideally suited for hanging displays where its cascading growth can be fully appreciated. Once established, it becomes highly floriferous and maintains its attractive foliage from April to December. Belonging to the Ligularia group, this species thrives in bright conditions with well-draining compost. Water moderately during the growing season and provide protection from frost. The plant’s brittle stems require careful handling during maintenance and positioning.
