Pelargonium ‘Elsie Hickman’

Pelargonium ‘Elsie Hickman’ is a regal pelargonium (Pelargonium x domesticum), grown for its bold, richly coloured flowers and bushy, upright habit. It typically reaches around 30–45cm in height, with sturdy branching stems clothed in mid-green, rounded leaves of 5–8cm across.

From summer into autumn, it bears large, rounded blooms with a striking white throat; the lower petals are mid-pink, while the upper petals are a rich, very dark red, giving each flower a distinctive two-tone effect.

Regals prefer morning sun or bright, filtered light, as they dislike intense afternoon heat. Grow in free-draining, fertile compost, watering thoroughly and allowing it to dry out somewhat between waterings. Being frost-tender, it must be overwintered under cover in a cool, frost-free spot.
