Description
Morus rotundifolia Mojo Berry
The Morus Mojo berry, commonly known as the Mojo berry Mulberry, is a compact deciduous tree reaching heights of 2-3 metres when mature. This dwarf variety of mulberry was developed for small gardens and container growing. Its attractive, glossy dark green leaves provide a lush canopy throughout summer, with characteristic lobed foliage adding textural interest to the landscape.
Mojo Berry produces abundant, sweet deep purple-black fruits in late summer, which are larger and juicier than typical mulberry varieties. The berries have an exquisite balance of sweetness and tartness, making them excellent for fresh eating, preserves and desserts.
This cultivar thrives in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun to partial shade positions. Hardy throughout most of the UK (USDA zones 5-9), it requires minimal pruning, typically in late winter whilst dormant. The Mojoberry demonstrates good disease resistance and drought tolerance once established, making it an excellent low-maintenance option for edible landscaping in British gardens.
