Kerria japonica

Description

Kerria japonica is a cheerful, deciduous shrub known for its bright spring display and elegant, arching stems. In mid to late spring, it produces a profusion of vivid, butter-yellow flowers, either single or double depending on the variety, which stand out beautifully against the fresh green foliage. The slender, green stems remain attractive through winter, adding structure and colour even when the plant is dormant. Growing to around 1.5–2m tall, it thrives in sun or partial shade and tolerates a wide range of soils. Easy to grow and reliable, Kerria japonica brings light, colour, and classic charm to borders.
