Description
Fennel is a close relative of dill. A short-lived perennial, fennel can grow up to 6 feet tall, with thick airy clusters of bronze, thread-like leaves. In late summer the plants are topped with flat clusters of yellow flowers that are very attractive to insects. Seed follow and every part of the fennel plant is sweetly scented of anise. Leaves, stems, flowers, and seeds can all be used for cooking. Useful for garnishes and adding flavour to salads. The leaves are good in soups and sauces. Beautiful as an ornamental plant too.
