Description

Calamagrostis emodensis, commonly known as Mount Emodus reedgrass, is a graceful, clump-forming deciduous grass native to the Himalayas and parts of Central Asia. Reaching up to 1.5 meters in height, it features slender, arching blue-green foliage that turns coppery in autumn. In mid to late summer, it produces nodding, feathery plumes of pale purple-brown flowers that persist into winter, adding movement and texture to the garden. Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils, it is ideal for borders, prairie-style plantings, or as a specimen plant. Its elegant form and seasonal interest make it a valuable addition to diverse garden settings.
