Boehmeria ‘Kyushu Rikishi’ is a bold and architectural perennial prized for its striking foliage and lush presence. Native to Japan, this unique variety features large, heavily textured, heart-shaped leaves with deep veining and a rich green hue. The plant forms an upright, bushy clump that adds tropical flair to shade gardens or woodland borders. Though it rarely flowers, its dramatic foliage is the main attraction. Reaching up to 90–120cm tall, ‘Kyushu Rikishi’ thrives in partial to full shade and moist, well-drained soil. It’s an excellent choice for adding structure and contrast to garden compositions with minimal care requirements.
