The Woodland Garden
In addition to the nursery visitors have the opportunity to wander through the woodland nursery garden. An interesting one-acre site with woodland walks, a natural water feature, sunken walled area, and several other topical places available for our customers to browse. Here you can see a large selection of plants, for which the adjoining nursery is especially well known. The Woodland Garden is full of bulbs, perennials and shrubs planted underneath a canopy of trees, creating an atmosphere of peace.
It is a very tranquil garden with magnificent views. Past improvements to the garden resulted in shaded areas and the several woodland walks, lined with Hostas, ferns etc., under planted with drifts of spring bulbs. The woodland garden is open whenever the Nursery is open. Donations to one of several charities are invited.
A wildlife pond greets you as you enter the garden. This lovely feature is fed with recirculated run off water from the nursery and is a haven for myriads of frogs toads and newts. In February the spawning frogs make so much noise they are often mistaken for a chainsaw!
In 2015 we extensively thinned the shrubs. The garden has been planted for 30 years and was in need of a haircut. Come and see what you think!
Free tea and coffee available in the cafe… just help yourselves!!
Special arrangements can be made for gardening clubs, W.I. and other such organisations where tea/coffee and biscuits are provided for parties of 10 or more. This will also include a guided tour of both the garden and/or the nursery if required.
