Sarracenia ‘Premysl Otakar’

Sarracenia ‘Premysl Otakar’ is a striking carnivorous plant hybrid that produces magnificent pitcher-shaped traps reaching heights of 45-60cm. This impressive cultivar features elegant pitchers with distinctive red and cream upright lids. A fantastic parent to some of the best plants we have grown from seed. This Sarracenia also produces beautiful flowers on tall stems in spring, typically displaying deep red or burgundy petals.

Culturally, this bog plant requires very specific growing conditions to thrive. It must be grown in an acidic mix of either sphagnum moss, peat and/or perlite, never ordinary compost. Keep constantly moist using rainwater or distilled water never tap water. Position in full sun either indoors outdoors, but it requires a cold winter dormancy period of 2-4°C. During growing season, maintain high humidity and ensure the plant sits in a water tray constantly. Excellent for catching flies.
