Description
Pelargonium ‘Peppermint Lace’
Pelargonium ‘Peppermint Lace’ is a compact, scented-leaf pelargonium grown chiefly for its attractive, deeply divided, silvery grey-green foliage, which releases a refreshing peppermint fragrance when brushed or crushed. It typically reaches around 45–60cm in height, with a spread of around 30cm, forming a bushy, well-branched habit ideal for pots, containers or the front of a border.
From spring into autumn, small, dainty white flowers appear above the foliage, though the plant is prized more for its aromatic leaves than its blooms.
Cultivation is easy: grow in full sun or light shade in free-draining, moderately fertile compost or soil. Like most pelargoniums, it is frost-tender and should be overwintered indoors or under glass in the UK, in a bright, cool, frost-free spot. Water moderately, avoiding waterlogging, and pinch out growing tips to encourage bushiness. Deadhead regularly and trim back straggly growth in spring.
