Fuchsia ‘Linda Hinchcliffe’
Fuchsia ‘Linda Hinchcliffe’ is a bushy, upright, hardy shrub reaching around 70cm in height, with a spread of approximately 45-60cm. It bears mid-green, oval foliage on compact stemsand produces an abundance of upward-facing, single flowers from summer through into autumn.
The flowers are particularly striking, with white sepals edged in pink and tipped with green, surrounding a dark purple corolla that matures to a rich reddish-purple as the bloom ages. This colour combination makes it a lovely addition to borders, patio containers or mixed beds.
Cultivation is straightforward: grow in moist, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Plant with the base of the stem around 5cm below soil level to aid winter survival, and provide a deep mulch and shelter from cold, drying winds in colder gardens. Cut back old growth in spring once new shoots appear.
